Making Sex Toys – Denim Floggers

I get a certain sense of satisfaction creative new toys. Sure you can go out and buy new gear, but there is something exciting about making something and imagining how it is going to be used, and the pleasure it will give. Buying mass-market toys can be touch and go at best. How many times have you brought a new toy and it turns out to be a piece of crap. Something that does even hold up during the first use! It is as frustrating as having the batteries going dead in your favorite vibrator. I digress.

These two floggers are the second version of an earlier toy I made. It was a lovely flogger that now belongs to a lovely young lady who likes some backside attention. I’m happy my toys and gifts get a lot of use. Nothing is sadder than an unused toy.


The handles are pine that have been sanded, stained, and then finished with a polyurethane coating. Notice how the handle has a nice rich glow. It gives the toys a degree of warmth, in my opinion. The business end is denim cut from old jeans. One would think that would be gross, but using old jean makes the denim fabric very soft. The material has been broken in over the year and is something you could never get from buying a bolt of cloth. Even the stonewashed jeans still feel a little stiff and harsh off the store shelf. You could wash those jeans 20 times and never come close to being as soft as the denim in my floggers.





The denim is cut into strips about 1 to 2 inches wide and about 24-30 inches long. I can’t be more precise, because have the fun is making each toy a little unique. Each little change alters the character of the toy and it’s always fun finding out how they work. The strips are thick so they catch the air during the swing. That way you can really put some effort behind each swing, yet the air resistance limits how hard you can really flog someone. Yes, I did put that much thought into this construction.

Most of the mass-market floggers have thin leather strips, which can sting too much. If you are not paying attention a flogging or spanking can turn into a whipping. What I’m after is a nice smack, not a sharp crack. Once again, I digress.

Both of these floggers have a break in period. Since the denim has been cut, any loose threads have a tendency to shed. After a couple of uses the shedding goes away. Which brings me to my point. I need to see how well my new toys will hold up under use. Any ladies out there need a good flogging?
